First of all, we'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who purchased our yummy pizzas and also to those who helped build them! Together, we were able to build and deliver around 500 pizzas!
So, this got me wondering. Pizza is a staple in the US, but what do the Haitian people like? I did a little searching and found that a dish native to Haiti is rice djon-djon (jon-JON). Although, the most common dish is rice and beans as it is most affordable and readily accessible to the Haitians. Rice djon-djon utilizes Haitian black mushrooms.
I found this youtube video with step by step instructions. So who is adventurous enough to serve this dish at your holiday table?! I think I might just have to give it a try.
If you do, please post comments to the blog!
As you visit with your families and reflect on all the things you are thankful for, please remember to keep Haiti in your prayers.
Happy Thansksgiving!
